The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC) in collaboration with the BVI Athletics Association announces a 14-member athletics team and four officials to represent the British Virgin Islands at the 2026 Association of National Olympic Committees of the OECS (ANOCES) Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Saturday–Sunday, July 4–5, 2026, at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Championships form part of the ANOCES 2026 sports competitions programme, supported through a partnership with Pan American Sports Organization, which is contributing funding toward accommodation, meals, and ground transportation for participating teams. The initiative underscores a shared commitment to strengthening sport development and expanding competitive opportunities across the Eastern Caribbean.
Mr. Ephraim Penn, President of ANOCES and the BVIOC spoke of the importance of the event to the region.
“The ANOCES Track and Field Championships follows on form the highly successful ANOCES U23 3×3 Basketball championships hosted in the BVI in May. They represent much more than a competition; they are an important platform for the continued development of athletics across the OECS region,” said Penn. “By bringing our athletes together in a regional championship environment, ANOCES is helping to strengthen competition, build friendships, encourage national pride, and create pathways for athletes to progress to higher levels of regional, continental and international sport.”
Mr. Penn welcomed the BVI’s team’s participation and commended the athletes and officials for their commitment to the first edition of the championships.
“The BVIOC is proud to be represented at the 2026 ANOCES Track and Field Championships by this team of athletes selected by the BVI Athletics Association and who continue to demonstrate promise, discipline and national pride,” said Penn. “This competition provides an important opportunity for our athletes to test themselves against their OECS peers, gain valuable regional competition experience, and continue their development on the pathway to higher levels of competition. We also thank the coaches, officials, families and supporters who continue to play a vital role in their progress.”
The BVI team will arrive in St Kitts on July 2 to compete across sprint, hurdle, middle-distance, jumps and throws events, including the men’s 4x100m relay.
