The 26th Congress of the International Softball Federation was held in Cartagena, Colombia from 23rd to 25th October, 2013. There were sixty two countries represented. The British Virgin Islands delegation consisted of BVI Softball Association President, Neville Smith and Statistician, Arnold Lettsome.
Meetings of Commissions and Federations were held during the first two days and the Congress meeting was held on the final day.
A new Board of Directors was elected as well as sixteen new Hall of Fame members. Three World Championship sites were selected and a number of playing rules changes were approved and these will become effective for the period 2014-2017.
Don Porter, who served as President since 1987, retired from the position and Dale McMann was elected as the new president.
During a meeting of the English Caribbean Softball Confederation the commitment to hold a number of championship tournaments within the next two years was highlighted. The British Virgin Islands indicated that they would explore the possibility of hosting one of the tournaments in 2014 or 2015.
Representatives of Softball Canada also met with the federation and made an offer of technical assistance to be delivered beginning in the first half of 2014.
The next Congress will be held in the fall of 2015.
