Another pulsating weekend in the BVI Football Association National League action saw One Love F.C. take over at the top of standings, the Panthers score ten goals, and wins for both the Islanders and Rebels.

The Panthers beat F.C. Sea Argo 10-2 to get the weekend underway, with Ken Saunderson opening the scoring in the 1st minute on his way to a personal tally of five. Stanny Francis added a couple of his own, with Shannon Lawrence, Leon Smith and Wayne Phillip completing the rout. Janel Ferdinand scored both for F.C. Sear Argo who remained rooted to the bottom of the standings.

One Love showed their championship credentials as they then came from two goals down to beat Old Madrid 3-2 and leap frog the idle Sugar Boys to top the standings. Xavier John and Frederick Salmon gave Old Madrid a 2-0 half time lead before Akeem Campbell made it 2-1 in the 58th minute. Breaton Douglas made it 2-2 10 minutes later and Richard Morgan put One Love ahead for good in the 78th minute.

The Rebels followed up on their 1-0 win last weekend against the Sugar Boys by completing a sweep of Virgin Gorda, beating VG Utd 1-0 on a goal from Fladimir Septus. The Islanders crept up into third place with a 3-0 win against the Wolues thanks to a brace from Kevin Fisher and one from Francis Primo.

One Love F.C. closed the gap on the Sugar Boys F.C. at the top of the BVI Football Association National League as they overcame nearest rivals Old Madrid F.C. 3-1 on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

Okeyne Thenstead scored a first half double, the latter coming deep in added time before the break, to give his side a comfortable cushion, before Ofaniss Bassaragh made certain of all three points, netting One Love’s third in the 68th minute.

Rohan Sweeney would score a consolation for Old Madrid as time expired, but defeat saw them slip to fourth in the standings as the Islanders F.C. had no difficulty in securing an easy 8-0 victory over F.C. Sea Argo, courtesy of a five minute, first half hat trick from Fitzroy Daley, who scored in the 18th, 22nd and 23rd minutes. Daley would add a second half hat trick to take his personal tally to six and whilst Ranalle Cain also scored, the biggest cheer was for Sheldon Harry who scored in the 73rd minute.

The Islanders now have 10 points, sitting in third place, with One Love on 16 in second and the Sugar Boys still in top spot on 19 points.

The last match of the weekend saw the Rebels F.C. continue their resurgence with a 3-1 win over the sea sawing Wolues F.C.

Chadwick Evans opened the scoring for the Rebels in the 36th minute and whilst Vernol Richards made it 2-0 in the 56th minute, Phillip Nelson handed the Wolues a life line in the 89th, before Evans made the game safe with his second and the Rebels third in the 90th minute.

Derol Redhead rescued all three points for the table topping Sugar Boys on Sunday 22nd April, as his 84th minute strike secured a 3-2 win over the Panthers F.C. and Old Madrid F.C. leapfrogged the Islanders F.C. into third place with a 2-1 win over VG Utd.

Stanny Francis had put the Panthers ahead in the 41st minute before Redhead equalized in added time at the end of the first half. However, Francis scored his second in the 57th minute to make it 2-1 before Roger Roberts leveled in the 82nd minute and just two minutes later Redhead settled matters with his 9th goal of the season.

League action had kicked off on Saturday with Xavier John firing home both goals for Old Madrid, to take his season tally to six, with Lance Reynolds replying for VG and then the following day, the Wolues resurrected their campaign, overcoming the unpredictable F.C. Sea Argo, 3-0, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Andrew Titchner settled the nerves in the 51st minute, but it wasn’t until the last ten that the Wolues made sure of victory and three valuable points, when Marcus Hallam made it 2-0 in the 80th minute and Jose Antonio wrapped up the scoring in the 87th.

The Weekend action ended with the Islanders F.C. dropping more points in what is fast becoming their worst season since records began, when they held 1-1 by the Rebels, who took an early lead in the 20th minute through Michael Baptichon and then conceded a second half equalizer in the 58th minute scored by Rohan Lenon.

The points were shared between the top two clubs in the BVI Football Association National League, the Sugar Boys F.C. and One Love F.C. in a six-goal thriller on Sunday 15th April 2018 over on the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground.

Mohammed Kachour had put the home side ahead in the 10th minute, Carl Stewart then equalized for One Love in the 34th minute. Okeyne Thenstead put One Love up 2-1 in the 52nd minute, Derol Redhead made it 2-2 in the 65th minute and Michael Castello restored the advantage to the hosts with his 68th minute goal making it 3-2, but almost as the home fans began celebrating another win, up popped Richard Morgan in the 85th minute to make it 3-3.

The Sugar Boys have still to suffer defeat this season and top the table with 16 points, One Love are second on 13, but the surprise of the season so far occurred back on the A.O. Shirley ground, when against the odds, the Panthers F.C. snatched a 1-0 win over the Islanders F.C.

The 3 points, courtesy of Nigel Saunderson’s 82nd minute goal puts the Panthers third on 7 points, whilst the Islanders and the Wolues F.C. share 4th on six points, with the Wolues losing 2-1 to VG Utd, who climbed up to sixth, in Sunday’s Prime Time game back on Virgin Gorda.

Having gone 2-0 down, after goals from Jose Antonio scored a consolation goal for the Wolues in the 89th minute. This after Thomas Albert opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and Delano Barbour doubled the home sides advantage in the 84th.

After a hectic match day number three of the BVIFA National League, One Love went joint top, the Rebels are still winless and the Wolues got their first points of the season as 17 goals, 11 cautions and 3 penalties were shared amongst 3 games.

The 3pm kick off over in Virgin Gorda saw Old Madrid come up against the Wolues, who, with a new look side, found themselves 3-0 inside the first 40 minutes, first through Phillip Nelson in the 11th minute and then a brace from Mark Gardner in the 33rd and 37th minutes.

Kenmore Peters pulled one back for Old Madrid in the 45th minute before Christopher Farmer and Christopher Smith put the result beyond doubt, scoring in the 60th and 82nd minutes respectively.

Nelson would then add another in the 87th minute to put the icing on the cake and make it 6-1.

Back on the A.O. Shirley Ground, the Panthers took on the Rebels and come out with all 3 points, winning 3-1, in a feisty game that saw no less than eight bookings.

By BVI Football Association

Goals galore punctuated week two of the BVIFA National League as the Sugar Boys hit the Wolues for six and Old Madrid went one better with a seven goal performance against F.C. Sea Argo on February 25, 2018.

The weekend’s action kicked off in a much more sedate fashion as VG United squandered all three points by conceding a late equalizer to the Panthers in a 1-1 tie.

Lance Renolds put the home side up in the 49th minute and just when it seemed victory was secured, Kevonne Bibby netted in the 91st minute for a share of the points.

Back at the A.O. Shirley Ground, Old Madrid thumped F.C. Sea Argo on the back of a first half hattrick from Xavier John (1st, 24th and 27th mins) and further goals from Rohan Sweeney (12th), Bernard Grant (82nd), Frederick Salmon (72nd) and an own goal.

Ruben Stoby and Gain Foster at least got on the score sheet for Sea Argo, who kept battling away until the very end.

Back on Virgin Gorda, the Sugar Boys maintained their 100% start to the season with a 6-0 rout of the surprisingly off par Wolues F.C. as Derol Redhead settled matters with a second half hattrick (47th, 69th and 87th mins) after Michael Castello (26th) had opened the scoring in the first half. Mervin Dainty (82nd) also found the net before Romaine Henry (91st) added a late sixth.

The BVIFA National League got underway in fine style on Sunday, February 18, 2018 as both the Sugar Boys and One Love gathered all three points in epic opening day drama-filled encounters.

The Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground, home of both the Sugar Boys and VG Utd, welcomed the Islanders for the first game of the season and a large partisan crowd were not disappointed as the youthful Andres Bailey put the hosts a goal to the good in just the seventh minute.

The lead lasted over an hour before Nano Ottley fired home the leveler in the sixty ninth minute to quell the noise coming from the main stand. However, the Boys would not be denied and soon had their supporters back on their feet when Mohammed Kachour, last season’s second highest goal scorer, smashed home what turned out to be the winner in the seventy ninth minute.

The second game of opening day, over on the A.O. Shirley Ground, was no less of a thriller, with another large crowd witnessing Trevor Ellis give One Love the lead in the seventeenth minute, before Chadwick Evans gave the Rebels a slight half time advantage with strikes in the nineteenth and forty second minute.

An inspired second half performance though from One Love, first saw Carl Stewart level the game at 2-2 in the sixtieth minute, before – with just ten minutes of normal time to go – talisman, Richard Morgan made sure of all three points with a decisive third goal for One Love.
